Unity of Olympia donations for Innovations HTC Healing Journey Home

We are so grateful for the incredible generosity of the Unity of Olympia Spirit Group

Your thoughtful donation of towels, bedding, toilet paper, and hygiene products makes a meaningful difference for the women we serve at Innovations HTC Healing Journey Home. These are more than just items—they are comfort, dignity, and a reminder that our community truly cares.

Because of your support, survivors of sex trafficking in our program have access to the essentials they need to feel safe, supported, and valued on their healing journey.

Thank you for standing with us and being part of the care that surrounds our participants every day.

We’re proud to share that our Labor Trafficking Case Manager, Smitty, represented Innovations HTC at the End the Violence Conference in Spokane last week—facilitating not just one, but TWO powerful trainings!

Both presentations focused on the intersections of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking—highlighting how these experiences overlap and the importance of a trauma-informed, survivor-centered approach when providing support.

Smitty brought incredible insight, passion, and expertise to these sessions, helping equip professionals from across the state with tools to better identify and respond to complex cases of exploitation.

We’re honored to have staff like Smitty leading this work and amplifying the importance of collaboration in ending violence in all its forms.
Case Manager presenting Human Trafficking 101 standing in front of US Flag

Our Labor Trafficking Case Manager, Smitty, recently had the opportunity to present Human Trafficking 101 at the Pierce County Readiness Center.

The training was provided to the Victims of Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) Program under the Washington National Guard.

During the training, Smitty shared key information on identifying the signs of human trafficking, understanding the intersection between sexual violence and trafficking, and how service providers and military programs can respond in trauma-informed ways to support survivors.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with partners like the Washington National Guard who are committed to prevention, awareness, and survivor-centered responses. Together, we can strengthen our communities and ensure survivors know they are not alone.

Case Managers Mekenzie and team member Smitty attending training

Last week, our case managers Mekenzie and team member Smitty recently attended a two-day training hosted by the Puyallup Tribe of Indians Community Domestic Violence Advocacy Program.

The training included important sessions focused on both stalking and strangulation, two high-risk forms of violence that often intersect with domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.

Trainings like this strengthen our team’s ability to recognize warning signs, respond effectively, and better support the safety and healing of the survivors we serve. We’re grateful for opportunities to learn alongside dedicated community partners working to end violence.

We are incredibly grateful to the Zonta Club of Olympia for their generous grant this year—and for their continued, intentional support of Innovations HTC. 💙

We were honored to attend Zonta’s Celebration of Giving, represented by our Sex Trafficking Case Manager Mekenzie and Development Manager Chelsea. The evening was a powerful reminder of Zonta’s deep commitment to supporting trafficking survivors—both nationally and abroad.

We also loved connecting with fellow community partners doing impactful work, including Together!, South Sound Parent to Parent, Monarch Child Advocacy Center, 4 the Love Foundation, Dispute Resolution Center of Thurston County, Dry Tikes and Wet Wipes, Olympia Peace Choir, YWCA Olympia, and South Sound Reading Foundation. Collaboration like this strengthens our entire community.

We were especially excited to celebrate Shelly Willis, President of the Zonta Club of Olympia and Executive Director of Family Education and Support Services, who was rightfully honored for her extensive and meaningful work in our community. 🌟

Thank you, Zonta Club of Olympia, for standing with survivors and investing in lasting change.
Cheebo Frazier, Innovations HTC's Board President Speaking

We are so proud of Cheebo Frazier, Innovations HTC’s Board President, for her powerful leadership and voice across Washington State.

As Vice Chair for the Nisqually Tribe, Cheebo recently addressed the Washington Economic Development Association (WEDA) to welcome economic development leaders to the territory and speak to the conference theme: Build Strong. Stay Strong—Building Economic Resilience and Preparedness in Washington’s Communities.

Held at St. Martin’s University, the conference brought together partners from across the state to collaborate on economic resilience during uncertain times. Cheebo emphasized the importance of equitable, cooperative planning to ensure tribes, agencies, and cities all have the capacity to weather economic challenges together.

Her leadership reflects the same values she brings to Innovations HTC every day—equity, collaboration, and long-term community strength. We are honored to serve alongside her.
